The Thanksgiving holiday is fast approaching, causing many people to feel extra generous this time of year. Luckily for those feeling in the giving spirit, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point will be hosting its 9th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Charity Event.

The charity event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 18, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1919 Wyatt Ave., Stevens Point, and provides families in need with a box full of all the food needed to prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner in their own homes, along with personal hygiene items, extra food, books, and hats, mittens and socks.
Some of the items included in the Thanksgiving Dinner boxes include a turkey, potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, cream of mushroom soup and gravy, making it easy for people to honor traditions and have the experience of putting together a homemade Thanksgiving meal for their families.
“Everyone deserves a Thanksgiving, and whether or not you have one shouldn’t be measured financially,” said Jennifer Worzella, the event’s coordinator for the last eight years. “I love that we can do this event each year and make it happen for so many families.”
