Eileen M. Roe

Eileen M. Roe, 99, formerly of town of New Hope, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Bethany Home in Waupaca.
She was born in the town of Buena Vista Aug. 25, 1918, a daughter of the late Bessie (Manchester) and Eugene Fletcher. She was married to Curtis Roe at the United Methodist Church in Buena Vista Dec. 15, 1945. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage before his death Jan. 5, 2016.
She taught at a one-room school at Oak Grove School in the town of New Hope. In 1941, she was a Portage County Dairy Queen. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, working crossword puzzles and camping with Curtis.
She is survived by her children, Kay (Gary) Vedder, Frederic, Mich., and Jerome (Jane) Roe, Sun City West, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church-New Hope, with Rev. Greg Haugen officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, town of New Hope. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
