Jean N. Kawleski, 83
Jean N. Kawleski, age 83, of Stevens Point, died on Nov. 25, 2017 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston, Wis.
Jean was born March 9, 1934 to the late Lyle and Helen (Wischnesky) Hobbs in Wausau. She grew up on the family farm in the Town of Eau Pleine, Portage Co., attended local grade schools and graduated from Mosinee High School.
After graduation, Jean worked for a time as a secretary for Wisconsin Public Service until finding a position at Hardware Mutual in Stevens Point, where she eventually became an executive secretary.
She married Ralph Kawleski on July 2, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Jean remained employed at Hardware Mutual until she began raising her family and decided to devote all her time and attention to homemaking.
Family was important to Jean, and she relished sharing her love and compassion with them. Jean will also be remembered for her appreciation for nature. She especially enjoyed watching birds and squirrels, tending to her bird feeders and taking care of her beloved cats. In her spare time, Jean loved to read, cook, listen to music and attend local concerts, plays and musicals.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Kathryn and Cheryl Kawleski, both of Stevens Point; her brother, Clare (Linda) Hobbs of Rudolph, Wis.; and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Kawleski; and brother, Leonard Hobbs.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point, with Deacon Art Schaller presiding. The family welcomes anyone wanting to join them on Monday at Forest Cemetery.
