Campus Band, Campus Orchestra to Perform at UW-Stevens Point

The Campus Orchestra and Campus Band at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will perform in concert Tuesday, Dec. 5.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall at the Noel Fine Arts Center. The Campus Band is conducted by Associate Professor of Music Patrick Lawrence, and Campus Orchestra is conducted by Music Professor Steven Bjella.
The Campus Orchestra will perform “Carmen Suite” by George Bizet and featuring a vocal solo by music education major Alyson Evans. Apprentice conductor Kelsie Menzia, a music education major, will direct “Liion City” by Soon Hee Newbold. “Concerto for Two Violins in d minor” by J.S. Bach will feature violinists and music majors Michele Zelinski and Marie VonRueden. The orchestra will close with “Suite for String Orchestra” by Crawford Gates.
The Campus Band will perform “Legend of Devil’s Lake” by Michael Sweeney and “When Spirits Soar” by Brian Balmages. Apprentice conductor Samuel Puffer, a music education major, will direct “Andromeda” by David Shaffer, and Evans will conduct “Mars” by Gustav Holst.
Concert tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available. Proceeds benefit student scholarships.
