Join the City Times’ Fifth Annual Christmas Lights Map

City-Times Staff
The Stevens Point City Times is sponsoring its fourth annual Lights of the Metro Area — a map of homes and businesses showcasing holiday decorations.
Each year we ask area residents and businesses to send us the address of their public Christmas decorations to include on the map, free of charge, for publication.
This year’s map will publish online Dec. 15 – 31.
The Metro Area includes Stevens Point, the villages of Plover, Whiting and Park Ridge and Town of Hull, as well as smaller, connecting municipalities like the Town of Plover, Lanark, Dewey and Stockton.
The close proximity of our respective communities has a special meaning each Christmas season, when hundreds make a yearly tradition of driving their families throughout the area to view the spectacle of lights and music scenes at many area homes, where holiday decor ranges from classic to beyond ordinary.
Displays must be easily visible from the road, and motorists and their families should not have to leave their vehicles to observe them.
Homes with interactive lights timed to music are encouraged — and should be noted when submitting your information — provided municipal ordinances are followed with respect to noise and light density.
If you wish to be included in this year’s map, send your name, address and daytime phone number to [email protected] no later than noon on Dec. 14. All emails should have “Christmas Lights” in the subject line.
