Jurgella continues professional baseball career
By John Kemmeter
Plover native and former Pacelli High School standout Mike Jurgella will continue his professional baseball career next season with the River City Rascals of the Independent Frontier League.
Jurgella will play for River City for the third year in a row after he agreed to a contract Nov. 22, while he is still hoping for an invitation to spring training from a Major League organization.
“Even growing up, I didn’t know if I was going to be able to play high school baseball,” said Jurgella. “Then at high school, I had no idea I was going to be good enough to play college, so I just feel very fortunate to be able to continue playing in this game that I love.
“I didn’t expect any of it,” he said. “It wasn’t something that I had on the radar early, so it’s something that I’m very excited to be able to do.”
