Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign in Final Stretch
For the City Times
STEVENS POINT – The Salvation Army of Portage County’s Red Kettle Campaign is in the final week of the 2017 fund raising effort, with 25% of funds yet to be raised, as of Monday, Dec. 18. That equals about $44,000 needed to reach the 2017 campaign goal of $175,000.
“Now more than ever, the need to have individuals ringing at kettles is crucial,” said Craig Shuler, chair of the 2017 Red Kettle campaign, “Our volunteers have been so faithful, but we need them and the community to join us for the final ‘push.’ We are confident more people in the holiday spirit and more people sensitive to the work of the Salvation Army will get us to our goal.”
The 2017 Red Kettle campaign loses the largest historic individual donation day because Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year. As a Christian organization, the Salvation Army reserves Sundays for worship and spending time with family, not bell ringing. The campaign does run through Saturday, Dec. 23 at 8:00 PM at all locations throughout Portage County.
