Ardis J. Walstra
Ardis J. Walstra, 86, Stevens Point, formerly of Walworth, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.
Ardis was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Walworth County, to Ollie and Mary Fox Hill. She married Melvin “Pete” Walstra on March 31, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2014.
Ardis is survived by three children; Jill (John) Thom of Stevens Point, Sue Maier of Stevens Point, and Peter Walstra of Boulder, CO; grandchildren Nathaniel (Sarah) Thom of Wheaton, IL, Emily Thom of Chandler, AZ, Steffanie Walstra of Denver, CO, Peter Hill Walstra of Brooklyn, NY, Molli Walstra of Denver, CO, Christopher Maier of Stevens Point, and Timothy Maier of Stevens Point; great-grandchildren Noah, Asher, Titus, and Judah Thom of Wheaton, IL; and a brother, Tom Hill, of Fontana, WI and sister, Mary Castle, of Whitewater.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Martin and Janis Edson.
She wanted to remember people other than her immediate family who held a special place in her heart; the Martin, Fredrickson, Batutis, Nauert, Fischer, Syverson, and Porter families; Arlene Clausen; dear friends here and gone; and all of the members of Faith Lutheran Church in Walworth, WI.
Per her wishes, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date in the Lake Geneva area. Friends and family will be notified.
Ardis was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Walworth. She spent her life as a caregiver for children and the elderly. One of Ardis’ favorite bible verses was: 1st Corinthians 13:2: And if I have prophetic powers…and if I have all faith… but have not love, I am nothing. One of her final thoughts was: “You were the joy of my life. God bless all of you, Ardis.”
