Years filled with Christmas memories

We’re approaching the mid-point of the 12 Days of Christmas, and it’s a good time to reflect on Christmas season memories.

A few readers of this space each week have asked me to write about some of them – and things I have observed over the years.

I’m half-way toward completing 80 years on our terra firma, and as an observer (reporter/journalist) for some of that time, I’m passing along some recollections of things I remember about a few past Christmases.

It is likely to seem strange to most people, but when I look back at the 79 Christmases I have experienced, my foremost remembrance deals with…fruitcake.

To read the rest of the story, pick up a copy of the Portage County Gazette at one of the many newsstands in the area, including gas stations and grocery stores. Or subscribe at www.shopmmclocal.com/product/portage-county-gazette to have weekly copies delivered by mail.
