Les Rob Peeples returns with a New Year’s Greeting
By Steve Hill
A great thing about the holidays is unexpected cards from old friends.
This year, in a beat-up old envelope from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (with the DNR’s return address scratched out with pen), I received one of those notecard-sized, wildlife-photo greeting cards folks used to get from outdoor organizations who were soliciting new memberships.
It was clearly recycled and from that old no-account Lester Robert Peeples, who goes by Les Rob and from whom we last heard in March, when he disappeared for a while after being let down by the new administration in Washington.
Even though he seemed a bit abrasive, he grew on me and a few others, who occasionally ask if I’ve heard from him. (Some don’t believe Les Rob Peeples is real, but I will repeat my assertion that he seems as real as the rest of what’s going on around us).
