Thomas M. Haroldson

Thomas M. Haroldson, 95, Rosholt, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Marshfield Medical Center (formerly St. Joseph’s Hospital), Marshfield.
He was born Aug. 30, 1922, in the town of Alban, a son of the late Olliana (Lystul) and Martin Haroldson. He was married to Lois Arndt on her Golden birthday Oct 22, 1955, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Big Falls.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a charter and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 509 Rosholt for more than 70 years. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW in Big Falls.
He was an insurance agent for New Hope Mutual Insurance Company for over 60 years, where he served as president and on the Board of Directors. He was also an agent for Secura Insurance. He was a rural mail carrier for 38 years. Other jobs included driving truck for Gamble Stores, he was a Gandy dancer for the Green Bay Western Railroad, worked for Harley Davidson, drove school bus for the Rosholt School District, was a real estate broker and worked for the Portage County Highway Department.
He enjoyed traveling, each summer traveling with his family across the country, and he enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans, the 631st Tank Destroyer Battalion. He also traveled to Norway and Alaska. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with his family. He also spent many weekends at his cottage in Mercer and went on father and son fishing trips to Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Haroldson, Rosholt; children, Louisa Haroldson, Julaine (Ole Larson) Haroldson and John Haroldson, all of Rosholt, and Marilyn (Mark Ligman) Haroldson, Junction City; two grandchildren, Luke Haroldson and Camia Seiler; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas L. Haroldson; and a half-sister, Edith Junkin.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Faith Lutheran Church, Rosholt, with Reverend Michael Peuse officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Alban Cemetery in the town of Alban.
