Dolores M. Mansavage
Dolores Mae Mansavage, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.
She was born May 4, 1928, in Plover to Stanley and Helen Stepaniak.
She was married to Edmund “Sonny” Mansavage Oct. 23, 1948. They spent the early part of their marriage running Sonny’s Tavern in Plover. She also worked at JC Penny Department Store for 12 years. They enjoyed many years at their cottage on Pelican Lake and traveled across the country together.
She always looked forward to her annual family vacation to Elbert’s Resort in St. Germain. She enjoyed water aerobics at the YMCA for 30-plus years and never missed her hair appointment at Carol’s Beauty Salon on Friday. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Parish. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She volunteered at many organizations in Stevens Point and Plover: She was a charter member of Palash Platt No. 543 American Legion Auxiliary and held every office during her membership; for 17 years she coordinated the American Legion blood drive and also the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry. Most recently, she volunteered for the Lincoln Center at the Holly Shoppe and annual plant sale.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Lucky) Copps; her granddaughters, Nicole (Jeremiah) Wente and Katie (Karl) Thorsen; and three great-grandchildren, Daly, Tommy, and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund; and siblings
Funeral Mass was Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stevens Point, the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Burial was in the St. Bronislava Parish cemetery in Plover.
