Ranked second in Division 5, the Eagles (7-2, 3-1) dropped a 60-38 decision to Amherst Thursday, Dec. 28, and were down by double digits in the second half against Regis Friday, Dec. 29, before they rallied for a 68-67 win.
“Before the game we just talked about getting rid of (Thursday’s) experience a little bit, getting that bad taste out,” said Almond-Bancroft boys basketball head coach Curt Lamb after the win over Regis. “We just talked about competing and playing hard, which I didn’t think we did very well in the second half yesterday, and it was kind of the opposite today.
“Things didn’t go well for us, but we didn’t get down, we kept fighting and digging away at it a little bit and then we made a couple of shots, and that makes everything better,” he said. “And I’m just proud of the kids.”
