Obituary: Aloysius “Allie” Mallek, 92
Aloysius “Allie” J. Mallek, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 05, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Willowbrook Senior Living staff and Heartland Hospice.
Allie was born in Junction City, WI, December 11, 1925, to the late Joseph A. Mallek and Frances P. Bobrowski Mallek. He married the love of his life, Venard K. Smith in Milwaukee, WI, on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1953, celebrating 65 years in February.
Allie enlisted in the US Army, Dec. 1945 as a Teletype Operator, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, Warsaw Poland and Camp Kilmer, NJ receiving an honorable discharge as a Telegraph Technician, in 1949.
After the army, Allie graduated from the Gale Institute in Minneapolis, MN as a Teletype Operator. He was hired by the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad in Chicago IL, but big city life wasn’t for him. He moved back to Junction City and farmed from 1951-1999, retiring and moved to Plover, WI and working part-time as a store clerk at Gardner’s Bakery. Throughout his life, Allie also served in town politics, holding offices as the Town of Eau Plaine Supervisor, and Town Chairman. He also served as the Town of Eau Pleine and Town of Hull Assessor; and Vice-Chairman of the Dairyman’s Credit Union. Allie was a lifelong member of the VFW.
Allie is survived by his wife, Venard; his children Michael (Ellie Mansavage), Salem Oregon; Mark (Debbie DeVries), St. George, UT; Rev. Matthew (Deborah Nowack), Stevens Point; Anthony (Melanie Honeyford), Stevens Point; David (Dee Brazelton), Rosholt; Ann (Michael) Kubowski, Plover; Joy (Tim) Davis, Keizer, OR. Grandchildren Naomi (Sasan) Poshneh, Ashley O’Brien, Andrew (Windy); Craig (Trisha), Ryan, Kara; Daniel (Amanda), Nathan (Traci), Mikayla (fiance Andy Schultz), McKenzie; Bethany, Hannah; Brock, Mariah; Kelly, Adam, Amanda, Amy Kubowski (fiancé Eric Hopp), Nicholas (Kalie) Kubowski; Camden and Alyssa Davis; 10 great-grandchildren, and his siblings Martha Mancl, Josephine Martens, Joseph, and Rosie Kawlewski.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Edward, Benny, Celia Ciaglo.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 12 at Refuge (formerly Good News Fellowship Church), where Allie was a founding member, at 801 Old Hwy. 10, Stevens Point, visitation from 9-11 am and service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested which will support Christian education at Stevens Point Christian Academy.
