Joyce H. Swartout, 66, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at the Marshfield Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1951, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Norman and Helen (Ostrum) Stone, and was a 1969 graduate of Lincoln High School. On Dec. 6, 1969, her marriage to John Swartout took place at the First Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids.

Joyce was a homemaker who enjoyed gospel music, reading and photography – especially of family members.

Survivors include her husband, John Swartout of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter, Patty Jo (Robb) Schultz of Stevens Point; daughter, Sarah (Jim) Wallner of Plover; grandchildren, Xavier and Vanessa Schultz, Trevor, Toby and Emily Wallner; mother, Helen Thurber; brother, Gary Stone; and sisters, Pat (Chuck) Baker and Karen Nigh; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Norman Stone; step-father, Jim Thurber; and brother, Gene Stone.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Joyce’s name.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at the Herman-Taylor Funeral in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of service.
