Big Brothers Big Sisters Announce Service Area Expansion
For the City Times
STEVENS POINT — The Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin (BBBSCW) is pleased to announce that it has expanded its service area to include both Portage and Wood counties.
BBBSCW has been serving the children and families of Portage County since 1972. In August of 2017, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America made changes to it’s national standards, leaving Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County, which had been running as a single person entity, without an executive director. At that time, it was decided by the Board of Directors of both agencies that a merger would be best to better serve all children in Portage and Wood counties.
The office in Stevens Point, located at 1000A Division Street will remain open as well as the office in Marshfield, located at 243 S. Central Avenue.
Dawn Cherek, Executive Director, brings over 20 years of experience with Big Brothers Big Sisters to the Marshfield area. Allie Dorshorst, Program Director, has four years’ experience and will be staffing the Marshfield office part-time along with a full-time Match Specialist.
Questions regarding the merger should be directed to Dawn Cherek, Executive Director at 715-341-0661. More information regarding the program can be found at www.bigimpact.org.
