STEVENS POINT — A suspected methamphetamine dealer has been arrested on charges that could land him in prison for over 30 years.
According to police reports, a search warrant was obtained for the defendant, 22-year-old Dustin Alan Trelka-Sankey, for suspected activity related to selling methamphetamine. On Jan. 10, the defendant was observed driving away from the Days Inn Suites on Division St., and officers soon followed and initiated a traffic stop.
After a thorough vehicle search, police would find 3.39 grams of methamphetamine stuffed in an aspirin bottle, as well as drug paraphernalia. Police carried out their search warrant on Sankey’s residence on the 2100 block of Patch St. and they would find more drug paraphernalia, Adderall, Vyvanse, two joints, and 0.62 grams of methamphetamine.
Trelka-Sankey allegedly admitted to police that he recently obtained 3.5 grams of meth, and considered himself a “low-level dealer”. He told police that was not addicted and sometimes used meth with his girlfriend.
Soon after, police would overhear a phone call from Trelka-Sankey to his mother, in which he informed her to “go get the vacuum”. Police would return to the residence to find the vacuum disassembled, and after a discussion with the defendant’s girlfriend, she allegedly informed police of more methamphetamine hidden underneath the couch, possibly from the vacuum.
Police would find 31.4 grams of methamphetamine, as well as marijuana under the couch.
If convicted, Trelka-Sankey faces up to 38 years imprisonment for Felony D charges of selling methamphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of marijuana, and bail jumping — as he was out on bail at the time for similar charges. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 29.
