Stevens Point Toastmasters Reaches 70 Years of Shaping Lives

Dinner will be held to mark the club’s anniversary on March 1.
STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Toastmasters Club #570 will mark its 70th anniversary on March 1. In honor of the occasion, a dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 at the Stevens Point Country Club located at 1628 Country Club Dr.
Dave Cotteleer, Vice President and Managing Director of US Sales Markets of Harley-Davidson, Inc. will be the guest speaker. Since 1948, the club has been dedicated to helping people become better speakers and leaders.
“For over 70 years, the Stevens Point Toastmasters Club has provided a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to overcome their fear of public speaking and sharpen their presentation skills,” says Jeff Ebel, Stevens Point Toastmasters Club President. “We are proud to continue a long tradition of developing leaders in the Stevens Point area,” says Ebel.
The charter banquet of the club was held on April 17, 1948 at the Hotel Whiting. The charter was presented by District Governor Cliff Teuchert of Beaver Dam to local club president, Robert T. Elias. Early charter members of the club include William T. Shoemaker, John A. Toepel, and Harry J. Grimm. Chartered with 20 members in 1948, Toastmasters Club #570 is located in District 35 which covers Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. The Stevens Point Toastmasters Club meets the first and third Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. at the AIG Building at 3300 Business Park Drive in Stevens Point.
