Roy A. Simonis
Roy A. Simonis, 92, Rosholt, died Saturday, Feb. 10, at Thedacare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Rosholt. Rev Jeffrey Hennes will officiate. Burial will follow in the Parish cemetery. Mr. Simonis was born Dec. 11, 1925, to the late Anton and Clara (Windorf) Simonis in the town of Alban. He was a farmer and an employee for the Portage County Highway Department. He retired in 1989.
His marriage to Theresa Strosin took place July 2, 1949, and the couple eventually purchased her parents’ farm in 1953 and continued farming. They were married for 60 years. She preceded him in death.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, telling a good joke, playing cards and spending time with his family.
For many years Roy participated in the Sacred Heart Society and was a member of the Men’s Rosary Society at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church. He also served as a member of the Rosholt Village board for a number of years.
He is survived by his sons, Ron (Kam) Simonis and Anthony (Kim) Simonis; and his three grandchildren, T.J., Samuel and Sydney Simonis.
