37th annual event raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin will hold its 37th annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising event Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24, at Skip’s Bowling Center.

“It’s a really fun way for community members to give back and raise money for a good cause,” said Allie Dorshorst, program director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin.

Last year, the event raised just over $68,000; the goal this year is to raise $69,000. More than 400 people are expected to participate.

To participant in the event, bowlers must form teams of four to six people and register their team online at www.bigimpact.org. This year, there are four bowling shifts from which to choose. Teams register for one of the four shifts and bowl two games.

The shifts are 6 and 8:30 p.m. Friday and 1 and 6 p.m. Saturday. Bowlers are asked to raise a minimum of $75 per adult, $30 per child or college student, or $375 per team.

This year’s theme is Pajamas and Pins, so teams and individuals can dress up in their best pajamas to win the costume contest. Bowlers will also enjoy food from local restaurants including Dunkin Donuts, Buffalo Wild Wings and Polito’s Pizza, to name a few.

Prizes will include a massage chair from Furniture and Appliance Mart, a signed Green Bay Packers football and Milwaukee Bucks tickets. There will also be music and local emcees throughout each shift.

All proceeds from the event go back to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin and support children in need in Portage County through one-to-one mentoring relationships. For questions or to register a team, visit www.bigimpact.org or call 715-341-0061.
