Irene R. Karch
Irene R. Karch, 91, Stevens Point, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Center, Plover, while under the care of Ascension Ministry Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass Friday at the St. Faustina Room of St. Peter Church. The Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name will be established at a later date.
She was born Nov. 28, 1926, in the town of Alban. She was the daughter of the late John and Clara (Jakubek) Karpinski. Her marriage to Daniel P. Karch took place Oct. 30, 1944, at St. Peter Catholic Church.
After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point. Her husband preceded her in death Aug. 23, 2014.
She loved being with and doing things for her family, cooking the results of catches of hunting and fishing, and she enjoyed making homemade pies and desserts. She also was a seamstress, creating dresses for granddaughters and clothing for their dolls, and she set aside doll clothes for her great-grandchildren.
She was an active church member, volunteering for church activities. She was a devoted Catholic and delivered Communion to the homebound; she also delivered meals through the Meals on Wheels program.
Survivors include her four sons, Richard (Nancy) and Gerald (Dorothy) Karch, both of Stevens Point, and Thomas and Dennis (Lisa) Karch, both of Plover; her two daughters, Mary (Kurt) Zurawski, Custer, and Elaine (Mike) Janz, Tomahawk; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; her granddaughter, Lori; two sisters, Emily Gliniecki and Laura Wanta; and her five brothers, Stanley, Daniel, Raymond, Edward and Benedict.
