STEVENS POINT — The April 3 general election will see a showdown between Jami Gebert and Chris Holman for Portage County Executive.

The top two out of Jami Gebert, Chris Holman, and Matt Jacowski were to advance to the general election on April 3.

With 100 percent of precincts voting, Holman finished on top with 2,713 votes (38%) with Gebert not far behind with 2,465 votes. (35%) Jacowski pulled in 1,964 votes. (27%) Jacowski was humble in defeat, as he released the following statement:

“I would like to congratulate Mr. Holman and Ms. Gebert on their win this evening, it was a close race.  It was pleasure to get to meet people across the county throughout my campaign.  I will continue to represent my constituents of District 22 on the county board and look forward to representing them in the future.  I will continue to stand up for Portage County taxpayers and do what is best for all of Portage County.  I would like to thank my family for the sacrifices they have made during the campaign I would also like to thank my supporters and everybody on the campaign team.”

Holman is looking forward to continuing his campaign, as he thanked his supporters, and readies for April.

“I’m really proud of the work that our campaign put into getting us through the primary, and I’m incredibly thankful for the tremendous outpouring of support for my candidacy last night,” said Holman. “That said, it’s time to get back to work and show county voters why I’m the right choice on April 3.”

“I would like to thank my supporters and thanks to my fellow candidates for running a primary focused on the issues,” said Gebert. “I look forward to demonstrating to Portage County citizens how my experience building community through service makes the difference.”
