City Times Staff
LANARK –According to a Portage Co. Sheriff’s news release, a sexually violent offender will no longer be released into Portage County.
Ronald A. Stewart, who was committed under chapter 980 of the Wisconsin State Statute — the State’s sexually violent persons law, will no longer be housed in the Town of Lanark. After further evaluating their options, the holding company who purchased the property where Mr. Stewart was going to be housed, withdrew their offer to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
According to Portage Co. Sheriff officials, any decisions by the State for Mr. Stewart’s future housing options have not been determined. No other sexually violent persons will be house at that residence either. The community notification meeting that was scheduled for this evening has therefore been cancelled.
