  1. Heartland Bike Club (HBC) is raising funds to assist the Stevens Point Police Department’s newly-approved purchase of a Trek Police Electric Edition patrol bike.

“We were looking for a community project that would not only be a great service, but also a way to support bicycling in our community,” said Jeanette Friess, HBC president. “We heard about the police department’s need for another patrol bike, and contacted Cpl. (Ted) Wanta to see if we could help out.”

The department already has three regular bicycles on the roads as part of its community policing program, which began more than two decades ago.
