Douglas A. Klemp, 83, Plover, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Whispering Pines, Plover.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City, with the Rev. Doug Schalow officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Milladore, with military rites performed by American Legion Post 468.

Visitation was the funeral home Friday.

Mr. Klemp was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Hustiford, a son of the late Henry and Myrtle (Renalds) Klemp. He attended Auburndale High School before transferring to Rudolph High School where he graduated in 1954.

After graduating from high school, he entered the United States Air Force.

He later graduated from Columbus College in Ohio.

He was married to Marjorie E. Treadwell Aug. 18, 1958, in Newcomerstown, Ohio. She preceded him in death.

They moved into his home farm in the town of Carson in Portage County. They later resided in Rice Lake, Weston and Plover.

He had been employed at PreWay Fireplace, Abel’s, Figi’s and Frank’s Hardware. He also designed the Donaldson building.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Roger) Herman, Menomonie, and Kathy (Ted) Kiefer, Stevens Point; two sisters, Carol (Paul) Glaza and Patricia (Nick) Glaza; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was also preceded in death by one great-grandson.
