Letter: Gebert ‘Ready to Hit the Ground Running After Taking Office’

To the Editor:

On April 3, the citizens of Portage County are being asked to vote for a leader to serve as the new Portage County Executive. Have you considered who you will be voting for?

I’m voting for someone who has poured themselves into the community. Who has worked tirelessly and selflessly for community improvement and improving the quality of life for everyone who calls Portage County home. I’m voting for Jami Gebert.

Not only is she the most qualified and experienced candidate, ready to hit the ground running after taking office – understanding the complexities of county government – she has truly invested her life deeply rooted into the community.

Building Community through Service is not just a campaign slogan. Jami has tirelessly worked to better the community in which we live and she hasn’t done it for recognition or personal benefit.

She is the reason that hundreds of kids received gifts on Christmas (serving for Toys for Tots Chair from 2008-2014 through Rotary). She is one of the reasons there is a skate park in Bukolt Park. She has worked to raise funds for the Friends of Standing Rocks Park to make winter activities more accessible and available to residents. She has supported local assets that thousands of residents use, without a thought to who has put the effort in behind the scenes, including the Green Circle Trail, serving as secretary since 2015. She gives of her time and talents volunteering regularly like serving meals at the Place of Peace and volunteering at local events from Portage County June Dairy Days to Walk Wisconsin.

She is the reason our community has so much to be proud of. It is because of those who give of themselves and serve that we have so much to enjoy.

Please join me in voting for a true community servant, Jami Gebert for Portage County Executive on April 3.
