Letter: ‘Gebert is Best Executive Candidate’

To the Editor:

While we are blessed with two good candidates for Portage County Executive, Jamie Gebert stands out as tops!

Jami will be able to hit the ground running because she knows County government, having worked eight years with budgets, plans, and the myriad of county Departments and Committees.  And she knows this community, both professionally (Stevens Point Mayoral Assistant and Main Street Manager) and in her extensive civic involvememt.

“Building Community through Service” is not just her slogan but is her personal ethic.  I worked with Jami on one of her building missions – raising donations for snow-making at the Standing Rocks downhill area, to the benefit of kids and families for generations.  Some of her other civic missions, to name a few, include involvement in the Green Circle Trail, Toys for Tots, and Rotary Club.

What’s more is that Jami understands that the keys to retaining and attracting youth and business is improving Portage County as a great place to live – one with great amenities, a healthy environment, and engaged citizens.  She is more than up to the job!
