Amherst girls take control early in State Semifinal win

With a berth in the State Championship Game on the line, the Amherst High School girls basketball team used a fast start to help pull away for a double-digit victory in a WIAA Division 3 State Semifinal at the Resch Center in Green Bay Thursday, March 8.

The third-ranked and second-seeded Falcons (26-1) got out to a 16-2 lead to start the game on third-seeded Milwaukee Saint Thomas Moore (21-6) and stayed in control the rest of the way to earn a trip to the State Championship Game with a 45-32 victory.
“As a senior, it’s amazing,” said senior center Heather Pearson. “With this group of girls, I couldn’t ask for any more.
“They always work their hardest for everything,” she said.
