SPASH students join in nationwide protest

Several hundred Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) students walked out of classrooms Wednesday morning, March 14, as part of a nationwide demonstration to protest gun violence, in memory of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on the one-month anniversary of the tragedy.

Students chanted sayings first, then observed 17 minutes of silence, one minute for each of the victims.

After some speeches by students, the group dispersed peacefully and returned to school.
