To the Editor:

As the April 3rd election approaches, I’d like to highlight Local Alder, Cathy Dugan, a civically involved community member and community advocate, running for re-election in Stevens Point, District 8.

Dugan serves well on the Stevens Point City Council, now in her first two-year term. Dugan’s knowledge, integrity and experience are invaluable. The result is a strong public servant and advocacy for all things and people Stevens Point. After election in District 8 she beefed up communication with residents, setting up neighborhood meetings and getting on top of what District 8 residents care about.

Unlike her opponent, who has comparatively scant years or experience in the community, I have seen how Dugan knows Stevens Point and surrounds. Dugan is actively involved in her role as alder in the Portage County Business Council Employee Retention and Attraction program, as well as the PCBC Housing Program. Dugan takes part in Interfaith Community for the Earth and the League of Women Voters events, especially on the important issues of Water in Portage County and the overall environment. Dugan brought educational programs on sustainable neighborhoods to these groups and the public for their consideration.

“There’s more to be done”, Cathy says, in District 8, and the city, and with one more two-year term she has the skills to help the district and city. With re-election, Dugan will continue to build neighborhood associations, which help the city thrive socially and economically, as well as work for safety on Stevens Point streets, affecting motorists, walkers and bicyclists. She will advocate for family sustaining wages and be an integral part of creating safe and affordable housing for all, city-wide. For these reasons and many more, I wholeheartedly urge your vote for Cathy Dugan for Stevens Point City Council on April 3.
