Pointers look to capture National Title this weekend

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) men’s hockey team will look to win its sixth National Title in program history when it competes at the NCAA Division III Frozen Four at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y., this weekend.
The fourth-ranked Pointers (21-5-3) are set to face sixth-ranked Salve Regina (R.I.) (21-5-2) in the National Semifinals at 2 p.m. Central Friday, March 23, with the winner to take on either top-ranked St. Norbert (25-4-1) or unranked Colby (Maine) (17-10-2) in the National Championship Game at 6 p.m. Central Saturday, March 24.
“It’s a great opportunity for our team,” said senior goalie Max Milosek. “It’s been our ultimate goal every year to get in that final game, so it’s awesome to actually get to this point.”
“It means everything to me,” said senior forward Willem Nong-Lambert, a second-year transfer from NCAA Division 1 Western Michigan. “Coming in as a senior captain and losing all of the scoring power (from last year) and getting a new coach, then making it this far, it’s just a step.
“I want to win a National Championship, and bring it back to Point,” he said.
