Storm Spotter Training to be Offered at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT — Train to become a volunteer storm spotter at a National Weather Service training session at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The training will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, in room 170 of the Trainer Natural Resources building, 800 Reserve St., Stevens Point. A Green Bay area meteorologist will instruct the class, which is free and open to the public. No preregistration is required.
The session will cover severe weather identification, reporting procedures and safety. These volunteers support National Weather Services by contacting them via phone, amateur radio or the internet to keep forecast staff updated on the latest weather information in their location.
