A community notification meeting regarding the release of a sexually violent man will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Central Wisconsin Electric Coop, 10401 Lystul Road, Rosholt.

Gregory F. Loomis, 43, a former Milwaukee resident, was ordered in October 1996 for detention under the sexually violent person’s state law for an incident that took place Jan. 11, 1992. He was approved March 16 by the state Department of Health Services for release.

On April 14, 2017, the court ordered a supervised release plan be developed for Loomis. A hearing was held, and the court approved the supervised release plan on March 16.

On or before April 15, Loomis is set to be released to community supervision administered by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and the Wisconsin Department of Family Services. The meeting next week is not intended to increase fear; rather to provide information, Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said.

There will be a presentation which will include representatives from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Portage County District Attorney’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Wisconsin Department of Family Services, and the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program.

Prior to April 15, Loomis will be released to the town of Alban in Portage County, and reside at 4068 State Highway 49. He will be on intensive supervision, and will be subject to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections’ electronic monitoring program and global positioning system. Loomis will be required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program for life.

The Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry can be viewed at www.widocoffenders.org.

Loomis was charged with two offenses in the 1992 incident, which took place in Milwaukee County. He did not live in Portage County during the offenses. In both cases, Loomis forced sexual assault of both male and female minor children while babysitting.

Another sexually violent offender resides in the same location. A third was placed in the home previously and violated his conditions of release and since has been removed.
