SPASH’s Negaard, Amherst’s Pearson earn All-State honors

Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) senior guard Maggie Negaard and Amherst High School senior center Heather Pearson were both named All-State by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

A NCAA Division 1 Drake University recruit, Negaard was named to the WBCA Division 1 All-State Team, after she helped SPASH win a share of the Wisconsin Valley Conference (WVC) Title this season.
The 5-10 Negaard averaged 18.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season for the Panthers and was also the co-WVC Player of the Year, along with D.C. Everest senior guard and fellow WBCA Division 1 All-State selection Taylor Petit.
Negaard was also named Fourth Team All-State by the Associated Press after she helped SPASH reach the Sectional Semifinals this season, where it fell to Kimberly to finish with a 22-3 record.
A NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh recruit, Pearson was the lone unanimous selection on the 2018 WBCA Division 3 All-State, after she helped Amherst finish as the WIAA Division 3 State Runner-up.

The 6-1 Pearson was the Central Wisconsin Conference (CWC) East Player of the Year this after she averaged 16.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2 blocks per game this season, as Amherst went 12-0 in the conference to win the CWC East Title outright.
Pearson was also an Honorable Mention All-State selection by the Associated Press, as she helped the Falcons reach the Division 3 State Championship Game, where they fell 63-55 to Marshall to finish 26-2 overall.
Senior wing and NCAA Division 1 University of Wisconsin-Green Bay recruit Hailey Oskey of Seymour was named the 2018 Miss Basketball Award winner by the WBCA, after she averaged 18.6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals per game this season.
