Edwin (Ed) S. Flatoff, 81, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at home April 3, 2018. Ed, the second child of the late Stanley and Agnes (Slusarski) Flatoff, was born on February 28, 1937 in Stevens Point.

Ed married Terrie Johnston on August 9, 1958 and they spent 59 years happily married.  During his school years Ed attended Jackson Elementary, St Peter’s Catholic School, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs before attending the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (UWSP) where he studied business.  While attending UWSP, Ed was a charter member of Epsilon Nu chapter of TKE.

Ed started his career with the Copps Corporation as a carry out boy and retired 47 years later as the Vice President of Independent Store Operations.  Ed retired in 2000 and considered his career to be one of his greatest accomplishments.  Ed and Terrie purchased South Point Restaurant in 1976 and ran it together for 40 years before passing it on to their daughter Kelly (Flatoff) Jurgella.

Ed was involved in many different aspects of the community.  One of Ed’s favorite pastimes included being involved in the Knights of Columbus, the Boys Club, St Joseph’s Holy Name Society, the United Way of Portage County, and being a Charter member of the Noon Optimist Club.  Ed was also a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was on the financial committee.

Ed will always be remembered for his passion and commitment to his work and family.  He was a serious man with a kind soul, and sarcastic sense of humor.  Ed was always proud of his family and their accomplishments.  He enjoyed watching Western movies with his wife and listening to country western music.

Ed’s favorite TV channels included Fox News and the History Channel.  Some of Ed’s favorite pastimes included playing cards, golf, traveling, hunting and fishing with friends and family.  Ed had his “two favorite girls” his wife Terrie and his daughter Kelly.  Ed enjoyed frequent trips to Las Vegas, their hunting cabin in Mosinee and their fishing cabin in Upper Michigan.

Ed is survived by his loving wife Terrie; sister, Adeline Flatoff; his sons, Brad (Barb) Flatoff, Blake (Paula) Flatoff, Kevin (Jodi) Flatoff, and Barry (Diana) Flatoff; and daughters Kelly (Eddie) Jurgella.  He will be greatly missed by his twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Before passing Ed stated he would like to send a special “Thank You” to all of his caregivers who made his last years more comfortable and enjoyable.

Services for Ed will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday April 9, 2018 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – 3200 Stanley St.  Friends and family will gather to share memories from Noon – 2:00 PM on Sunday at Shuda’s.  Visitation will also be from 10:00 AM Monday until the time of service at the funeral chapel.
