Fourth annual Reeder’s Ruck and 5K run set for April 28

The fourth annual Reeder’s Ruck and Run will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, along the Wisconsin River near the Riverfront Arts Center in downtown Stevens Point.
The eight-mile ruck march and 5K run follows a loop of the Green Circle Trail and helps raise money for a student scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP).
The event is sponsored by the UWSP Ranger Club as a fundraiser for the Alexander H. Reeder Memorial Scholarship, named for a senior psychology major and ROTC student from Wisconsin Rapids who died in a motorcycle accident in 2014. The scholarship will support ROTC students.
New this year is a 5K route in addition, to the eight-mile ruck march, which features a new route as well.
The ruck march is open to contestants who will wear a “ruck sack,” a backpack weighing at least 35 pounds, as they complete the course.
Individual awards will be given to the top male and female finisher of the age 40 and under class, as well as the age 41 and older class.
Registration is $30. Special rates are available for students and service members, while children under 13 are free. For more information and registration, visit reedersruck.eventbrite.com.
