MREA installation will integrate solar canopies and electric vehicle charging stations.

CUSTER — The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) will be installing Poly-Tex’s solar canopy structure at their headquarters in Custer as part of their new Advanced PV Installation workshop this May.

The new 19.4 kW solar canopy system will cover the existing parking area and will integrate MREA’s existing EV charging stations. The solar canopy will feature Poly-Tex’s unique tri-plane truss architecture designed to lower total installed costs. The project will be completed and operational for The MREA’s 29th Annual Energy Fair, June 15-17, 2018.

“We are very pleased to support MREA’s mission of renewable adoption through education and demonstration,” said John Frederick, Poly-Tex V.P. of Sales and Marketing. “The project at MREA’s headquarters will demonstrate how parking lots can be better utilized to support solar production and transportation electrification.”

“It is very exciting that our headquarters facility will feature the latest technology available in the solar canopy industry,” said Nick Hylla, MREA Executive Director. “Poly-Tex brings over 30 years of structural experience to this project. Parking lots and ramps present a largely untapped resource to expand renewable energy production.”

While solar canopy installations have historically been challenging due to their higher cost when compared to rooftop or ground mount systems, their new Tri-Plane Truss design can bring financial feasibility to canopy projects as well as contribute to the growing EV car industry.
