City Times Staff
STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point police recently welcomed two new additions to the force.
K-9’s Luna and Fala joined the department last week. The two-year-old Luna hails from Holland, and is a Belgian Malinois. Fala joins the department from Poland, and is of the same breed. Officers J.D. Ballew, and Austin Lee will start their six-week K-9 training course on Monday at Vohn Liche Kennels in Denver.
You can help support the fundraising efforts for new K-9’s by heading over the Copps location on 1500 Pinecrest Ave. on Saturday, April 14.
The Stevens Point Fourth Degree Knights Assembly 1216 will host a brat/burger fry at Copps on this day from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The department has a lofty goal of raising $50,000 for the new additions, but expect them to be met with the continued support of community members.
These K-9’s will be crucial to help with tracking missing persons and suspects, building searches, and drug detection. Residents are welcomed to not only grab lunch next Saturday to help support the K-9’s, but learn more about what they will bring to the Stevens Point community.
