STEVENS POINT — In the latest episode of Stevens Point Life, the series delves into the life of Watchman’s Gone owner Andy Pech.
“Andy Pech moved to Stevens Point in 1986 to attend UWSP and after that, he lived in a handful of cities from Madison to Seattle. He returned to Point and enjoyed a 17-year career with the University Library but he became bored with it; he wanted a job that offered more opportunity for personal growth.
While driving on Jefferson Street one day, he noticed a ‘for sale’ sign on Bergies restaurant. After weighing the pros and cons of entrepreneurship with his wife, the couple took a leap of faith and bought the eatery; rebranding it, The Watchman’s Gone.”
We shadowed Andy one morning as he prepared to open the door for the lunch crowd. He says he has no regrets about leaving his old job to become a restaurateur but is surprised by the reaction of other local restaurant owners to his new venture.” – Stevens Point Life Facebook
Andy and The Watchman’s Gone can be found at 3324 Jefferson Street.
