LaVerne Kathryn Peterson, 86, Plover, a retired clerk for the village of Amherst, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 16, at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst.

Visitation was held at the church Monday.

Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church or the Lettie W. Jensen Community Center.

Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst assisted with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.hollyfuneralhome.com.

Mrs. Peterson was born June 14, 1931, a daughter of the late Stanley and Kathryn Zdrojowy.

She joined the workforce later in life. She ended her career serving as the village clerk for the Village of Amherst and was recognized for excellence in this role by the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association.

She was also involved in her church and community, volunteering her time on behalf of many organizations, including St. James Catholic Church, CAP Services, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Tomorrow River Tree Board and the Lettie W. Jensen Community Center.

Survivors include four daughters, Kathryn (John) Henderson, Kristine (James) Rappe, Karol (Peter) Harris and Korinne (Michael) Mroczynski; three sisters-in-law, Helen Zdrojowy, Shirley Peterson and Elaine Peterson; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Zdrojowy; and her former husband, Walter Peterson.
