Almon D. ‘Bud’ Adams

Almon D. ‘Bud’ Adams, 79, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.

A memorial service was held Thursday, April 19, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point.

Visitation was Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Adams was born April 16, 1938, in Belleville, Kansas, a son of the late Almon and Emma Adams. He attended a one-room school from first through third grades before moving to Beatrice, Neb., with his parents. He started working in fifth-grade stocking shelves at a small grocery store. He worked part-time at the Burwood Hotel through high school.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in January 1957, graduating from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and attended tech school in Amarillo, Texas. He was transferred to Truax Field in Madison, where he spent the duration of his Air Force career working as a mechanic on various aircraft.

After his military career, he worked at Beatrice (Neb.) Light and Water Department and then joined the Air National Guard working for general dynamics astronautics missile division.

He moved on to work at Phillips Petroleum Company before moving his family to Madison. He started a career servicing household appliances along with retail sales of appliances at various places such as Standridge Appliances, Appliance Mart and moved to the Stevens Point area to finish his career at Furniture and Appliance Mart (ending with 35 years of service.)

Survivors include the love of his life for 59 years, Barbara (Hanke) Adams, Stevens Point; four children, Lori (Mark) Myers, Kalispell, Mont., Craig (Wanda), Madison, Gwen Vandre, Hancock, and Carol (Terry) Wilson, Stevens Point; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one grandson.
