Mayor Issues Statement on Snow Removal Enforcement
The following is a message released to the media from Mayor Mike Wiza regarding snow removal enforcement for property owners.
Dear Citizens and Property Owners of the City of Stevens Point:
As most everyone is aware, we received an excessive amount of snow over the last weekend that most are trying to deal with as best they can. In recognition of this, the City has been giving property owners extra time to clear sidewalks adjacent to their property and will not begin actively enforcing sidewalk snow removal until 8:00 AM, Friday, April 20. After this date, the City contractor will abate (clear) unshoveled sidewalks.
The costs associated with this removal, plus any service fees, will be billed directly to the property owner. Enforcement will begin in the areas of highest foot traffic within the City, such as around UWSP, major corridors, and business districts. If you feel you have an unreasonable burden, due to snow plowing activities along your street, please contact the City’s Neighborhood Improvement Coordinator (715-346-1554) BEFORE 8:00 AM, Friday, April 20. The Neighborhood Coordinator will review your situation to validate the burden and try to work with you on a reasonable timeline to get the snow removed.
We appreciate your patience and assistance in removing this record snow fall and keeping our sidewalks clear and safe for all pedestrians.
