Johnny Hyland will run cross country and track at NCAA Division 1 Marquette University, Andrea Cherney will play softball at NCAA Division II Northern State University (SD), and Mason Piotrowski will play men’s soccer at NAIA Division 1 Evangel University (Mo.).

Hyland was the Wisconsin Valley Conference Individual Champion in cross country as a senior, a three-time State Qualifier, and was 33rd at the WIAA Division 1 State Meet as a senior last fall to finish as the top runner for State Runner-up SPASH.

In track, Hyland qualified for the WIAA Division 1 State Meet as a junior last spring in the 3,200 run, while he started his senior season off with a pair of WVC Titles, as he won the 1,600 run and the 3,200 run at the WVC Indoor Meet Tuesday, April 10.

A pitcher and first baseman, Cherney was a Second Team All-WVC selection for the SPASH softball team last season as a junior after she went 7-3 with a 2.39 ERA in 70 1/3 innings in the circle, while she also hit .317 with three home runs and 14 RBI.

She took over as the Panthers’ top pitcher down the stretch and helped the team reach the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament, before they lost 3-0 in the State Semifinals to eventual State Champion Kaukauna to finish 24-6.

A midfielder on the SPASH boys soccer team, Piotrowski also plays club soccer for Portage County Youth Soccer.
