Another Record-Setting Year to Open New Doors to Great Futures for Local Kids

STEVENS POINT — On Friday, April 6, the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County hosted their 14th annual Portage County Taste of Wine & Cheese event, and it was another record-breaking year.  Thanks to the help of Trig’s and Rockman’s Catering, this event was a huge success.

The event featured over 100 different wines, more than a dozen specialty cheeses, hand-crafted local beers from Central Waters Brewing Company, O’so Brewing Company, and Stevens Point Brewery, bourbon from Cellar 70, and spirits from Great Northern Distilling.

A wide variety of hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, a raffle, a Dippin’ for Bling event, and a wishing tree were also included at this event which continues to be one of the largest social outings in Portage County.

This year’s event had over 700 attendees, and thanks to local businesses and individuals, they helped raise a total of over $150,000 for the youth programs of the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County.

The Boys & Girls Club staff and committee volunteers realize that the success of this event would not be possible without the support of over 250 local businesses and individuals.  Thanks to the generous support the Boys & Girls Club receives through this event, the organization is able to serve over 2,000 youth each year and is able to continue to be a safe and positive place for kids.

To all of those who pulled “wishes” off of the Boys & Girls Club’s wishing tree at the event, please look for the pictures of Club kids with those wishes on the Boys & Girls Club’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/bgclubpc.  Thank you to this community for making wishes come true for local kids!

Please save the date for next year’s event on Friday, April 5th, 2019.
