STEVENS POINT — Mayor Mike Wiza declared the month of May as Portage County and Stevens Point History Month. This is in partnership with the Portage County Historical Society.
“With Stevens point turning 160 years old on June 7 of this year, I think it’s important that we recognize and embrace our history,” said Wiza. “Take a walk downtown on Main Street and don’t look at the storefronts — look up at some of the architecture. Take the murder tour that’s put on by the Historical Society; go down and visit the Historical Society, or even the web page — we have some pretty interesting history here in Stevens Point.”
