NEW YORK – The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) is pleased to announce its recent award from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) as a Training Provider. MREA has maintained varying accreditation designations through IREC since 2010, and on April 11th, 2018, was recognized by the IREC Credentialing Award Committee as meeting the IREC Standard 01023: General Requirements for the Accreditation of Clean Energy Technology Training.

To meet the standard, MREA has demonstrated that its curriculum is market relevant, aligned with industry-established learning objectives, and delivered by highly qualified and trained instructors. IREC has recognized the following MREA courses as meeting their quality standards for photovoltaic (PV) training:

  • Basic Photovoltaics
  • PV Site Assessor Training
  • PV System Design
  • PV Sales and Finance
  • PV Labs and Design Scenarios
  • PV Exam Prep
  • Safety and Best Practices for PV Installers
  • PV Design and Installation Lab
  • PV and Solar Thermal Structural Considerations
  • Navigating the NEC

MREA’s courses are held both online, and in-person with hands-on training sessions throughout the midwest and beyond.

“With over 100 hours of accredited content in PV technology, design, installation, code, and safety, the MREA is committed to providing both entry level and advanced training for new workers and continuing education opportunities for solar industry professionals and electrical workers. With Midwestern states like Minnesota and Iowa setting the pace for year-to-year solar job growth (48% and 45%, respectively), according to the National Solar Jobs Census 2017, the MREA is working to ensure this rapidly growing regional workforce is poised for success and equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills.”

MREA is proud to receive this award and to add it to a growing list of hard-earned recognitions for training through the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and multiple state licensing agencies across the Midwest.
