Stevens Point Area Tourism Development Fund distribute award to benefit Zenoff Park
STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point Softball Association (SPSA) has received a grant from the Stevens Point Area Tourism Development Grant Fund, for a project at Zenoff Park.
The Zenoff Park Turf Project has received $20,000 to enhance the tourism assets in the Stevens Point Area.
“We are excited about the Zenoff Park Turf Project because it enhances our facilities, increases playability and gives our community a competitive advantage,” said Sara Brish, executive director of the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Sports tourism continues to thrive in the Stevens Point Area and is a key component of our region’s tourism economic impact.”
The project will replace the sand infield with turf, which allows play to resume more quickly when wet conditions would prohibit their use. Zenoff Park, and it’s three ball diamonds, currently host several tournaments throughout the year including Badger State Games and the Stevens Point Youth Baseball Association’s tournaments.
“This will be a wonderful addition to an already great facility,” said Matt Disher, president of the Stevens Point Softball Association. “The project will allow for increased use for both tournament and league play, as well as allow the Stevens Point Softball Association to work with the Stevens Point Area YMCA and Boys & Girls Club of Portage County to expand their summer programs.”
