Obituary: Catherine Carroll Bell-Ghory

Catherine Carroll Bell-Ghory age 68, of Stevens Point passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 2, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday May 7, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Rev. Thomas Lindner will officiate.  Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.  Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 10:00 AM until the time of services Monday at the church.  Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Catherine was born June 29, 1949 in Marshfield, the daughter of Henry and Isadora (Boylan) Carroll.  Her family moved to Ashland in 1957 and to Stevens Point in 1961.  She graduated from Maria High School in 1967.  Catherine attended UWSP and UW-Madison before entering the United States Army.  She was the first woman to participate in the electronics program for the Army.  She served mostly in Maryland and Colorado during the Vietnam War.
After her honorable discharge, Catherine spent most her adult life in California.  Catherine worked as a calibration technician for Genetic Pharmaceutical.  She married Earl Bell in 1971, the couple later divorced.  She and her son Brian lived in the San Francisco area for many years.  Catherine married Saliba Ghorry on September 27, 2002 in Virginia, the couple moved to Stevens Point in 2005.  Catherine served as a 4H leader, a ham radio operator and enjoyed gardening and needle crafts.  She was a recent cancer survivor.

 

Catherine is survived by her mother Isadora Carroll, Stevens Point; her siblings: Kevin (Patricia) Carroll, Wisconsin Rapids; Bonnie (Frederick) Berry, West Allis; Patricia Carroll, Amherst; Timothy Carroll, Wisconsin Rapids; Jeanne Carroll (Dean Barrington), Stevens Point, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father Henry, her son Brian, her husband Saliba in 2017, her brother William, her niece Jessica, and two nephews, Daniel and Keith.
