STEVENS POINT — Planning commission members have raised their glasses to the prospect of a new micro-brewery on Division St.

Brewery Resolute LLC, seeks to construct and operate a small-scale 12,000 sq. foot facility, in which 4,000 sq. feet of the space will be dedicated to alcohol production and distribution. The rest of the remaining space will be utilized for a tasting room/tavern, community area for live music and events, bathroom facilities, and employee areas.

“We feel it would be a very good use of that corridor — we think it would be well used and bring additional vibrancy to Division Street, so we welcome that use to our city. ” said Community & Economic Development Director Michael Ostrowski.

The proposed location of Brewery Resolute LLC, 200 Division St.

Located at 200 Division St., the brewery will take up some of the space of the former North Point Shopping Center.

“This is such a great story, so I’m super excited about this,” said District 1 Alder Tori Jennings, who met with the owners prior to the meeting. “This is the kind of incremental change that will revitalize North Division Street. — These are local people; people who went to SPASH, people who worked in the paper mill —  and what I learned is that the chemistry to paper science is similar to making beer.”

According to owner Chris Gethers in his permit application to the city, he hopes the brewery can kickstart area development for future retail and community use. This is the last step before final likely approval through May’s common council meeting.

If approved, the brewery could see completion by 2019.
