Here is a rundown of weekly events happening in the Stevens Point area that you won’t want to miss.

Thursday, May 10

Live Music: Slow Pulp with Handsome Ed, Dream Pop – 8PM
-According to Centertainnment, Slow Pulp w/Handsome Ed is a “four-piece dream-punk band oscillating between dream-like states and a frantic sense of urgency.” – They will play the DUC, 1015 Reserve St. Admission is free for UWSP students with an ID, $5 for those without an ID.

Friday, May 11

Live Music: Bojjo Duo – 8PM
-Performing at the Elbow Room, 1321 Second St., this will be the band’s first show in Stevens Point. They play a variety of blues, jazz, folk, and rock.

Open Mic Night/Spoken Word Poetry – 7PM
-Held at the IDEA Center, 1039B Ellis St., poets will take the stage to express themselves through the art of poetry.

Live Comedy: Renewed Liberty Comedy for a Cause – 8PM
-All proceeds from this night of comedy will benefit Renewed Liberty. Comedian Mike Marvell will take the stage in this 21 and over only act. Admission is $10 in advance, and $15 at the door. Catch this night of comedy at Rookie’s Sports Pub, 3425 Church St.

Live Theater: CwAct Presents: Leaving Iowa – 7:30 PM (May 11-13)
-Catch cwACT’s spring show, as the very best in local theater will take the stage to perform a comedic favorite about family vacations. Showtimes run May 11-13, with a Sunday showing at 2PM. Tickets are $12 at the door, and $8 for children under the age of 12. Sentry Theater is located at 1800 Northpoint Dr.

Saturday, May 12

Portage County Cultural Festival – 10AM – 5PM
-Catch thiss annual gem which celebrates Central Wisconsin’s unique cultural heritage. This event features food, entertainment, arts, crafts, and exhibits from around the world. This event is held at SPASH, 1201 Northpoint Dr.

Sunday, May 13

Fishing Tournament: 2018 Wisconsin River Series – 6AM
-This annual fishing tournament will kick off bright and early at 6AM, and run until 3PM. This event is located at Bukolt Park Boat Landing, 100 Bukolt Ave. For more information, please call 715-346-1531.

“We are Movement: Pilates and Dance Class” – 5PM
-Held at Emy J’s, 1009 First St., this six-part Pilates and dance class experience is created and taught by UWSP Dance grad Ivy Boudreau. Cost for the class is $7, and $30 for all six classes.

Wednesday, May 16

Adult Lego Night – 6:30 P.M.
-Presented by the Portage County Public Library, 1001 Main St., join other adults with a passion for playing with legos. For more information, please call 71-346-1548.
